Hello and welcome to In Cold Literature - where reading is the new addiction.
This is a blog for all you book lovers, where everything book related is fair game. Nothing’s off limits. Here, we will chat about our favorite and not so favorite titles, reading lists, movies that practically ruin the storyline and much, much more. We will also have segments - but those will be planned later in time.
For now, let us introduce our selves. Our names are Denny and Gina and we have been best friends since Kindergarten - I know, that’s a long time. We both share what some would call an unhealthy obsession with books. Seriously, we could live in a bookstore. We even had to use a shopping cart one day - so many bargain books!!!
Denny: Just to give you the run-down, I am a 23-year-old Midwestern boy taking life as it comes. Graduating with a bachelors in English-Journalism, I am currently a staff writer for a LGBT, Missouri based magazine called Vital Voice. You can check us out at: thevitalvoice.com. In addition, I am a full time digitization specialist for ancestry.com. A little outside my field, but it pays the bills. I have always been an avid reader and I continue to be. There’s nothing I love more than opening a new book and diving into the pages. Books are doorways to the imagination. Yes, I might spend more money than I should, but at least I’m not blowing it on drugs, ya know? I look forward to constantly expanding my library.
Gina: Hi there! :) I’m Gina and I have loved books for as long as I can remember. The best day of the week was always Library day in grade school, and I remember it mainly being on Wednesdays (guess that explains my love for Wednesdays). Scholastic Book Fairs were always the highlight of the year. Though I have a degree in Psychology, books have and will always be a passion of mine. If I were asked what my favorite book was I wouldn't be able to answer because there are too many great books out there to choose from. As any good book lover my to-read list is longer than my read and I am constantly adding to the pile. I spend way too much time in the local bookstore. I admit, I did cry when Borders was closing, it was a devastating time for me but I am glad that a Books-A-Million went in where the Borders was. All in all my love for books and browsing through various blogs and YouTube accounts gave me the idea to start a blog…..and maybe the fact that I've just recently started watching Gossip Girl.
As you can tell, you get two very different personalities all wrapped up in one shiny...or not so shiny…blog. We look forward to seeing where this adventure takes us and how it expands our own reading lists.
Until next time,
D&G
